Tablets have come and gone throughout the years, mainly used by Doctors offices and the like. A pen (stylus) was needed to get anything accomplished, and it wasn’t very efficient. Not until the Apple iPad did they actually made a dent in the consumer market. It definitely got the attention of Microsoft and Steve Ballmer. A few good quotes came from the announcement that Microsoft is going to put a lot into the tablet market. Some somewhat funny, others sounded pretty awesome.
In the question-and-answer session, talk again turned to tablets and Ballmer tried to be a little more clear on the plan, which he said will center around Windows 7 as opposed to Windows Phone and Intel rather than ARM processors, at least for the near term.
“We’re coming,” he said. “We’re coming full guns. The operating system is called Windows.”
